Patriarchal Blessing for Clarissa Amanda Hoyt by William Cazier on March 9, 1859
A blessing by William Cazier Patriarch upon the head of Clarissa Amanda Hoyt, daughter Josiah Miller and Amanda Morgan born October 8, 1829 in Clarendon, Orleans County, New York.
Sister Clarissa, in the name of Jesus Christ and by the authority of the Holy Priesthood, I feel to bless thee because thou has chosen that good part which will never be taken away from thee, the gospel of salvation, having left thy native land and come for the same to the valleys of the mountains through privations and toils to be with the saints of the last days, God remembers thee, because of the integrity of thy heart and having chosen the way of life even that of a celestial glory, to be made a partaker thereof, to live with thy sisters and be a mother unto them. For this cause thou shalt have the keys of the priesthood in connection with thy husband to enter into the celestial order for thy lineage is that of Joseph and thy priesthood shall be like unto his. Thou art entitled to the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. In all thy family circle thou shall have peace and consolation in life for the Lord thy God loves thee and will make thee acquainted with every circumstance by his angels which shall visit thee when it is necessary for thy good and the good of others. Thou shalt be blessed, my sister, and receive that consolation to comprehend on the earth and in the heavens. For thy name shall be had in honorable remembrance and thy posterity shall be great on the earth and in the restoration. You shall have great power in the house of the Lord in restoring of thy dead. Thou shalt have herds and flocks and all that thy heart desires. Thy table shall be spread with the comforts of life. Thou shall see Zion spread from sea to sea; help build up and establish principles that are in Zion in sustaining the weak and the outcast of Israel. So, be faithful my sister and a crown of life in the resurrection and a celestial glory await thee in the Kingdom of our God. All these blessings are for thee, my sister and I feel to seal them upon thee. Thou shalt come forth in the first resurrection and inherit eternal lives. Even so, Amen
